Leave a lasting legacy for a magnificent creature
For more than 30 years snow leopards have benefited from the generosity of our members, many of whom have included legacy gifts—large and small—to the Snow Leopard Trust in their wills, trusts, or other estate plans. By doing so, you can leave a lasting legacy to protect these amazing cats well into the future.
When planning your legacy gift, the following information may be helpful:
Snow Leopard Trust is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with its principal office at 4649 Sunnyside Ave Suite 325, Seattle, WA 98103. Tax identification number 91-1144119
Two common legacy gifts that may be of interest to you include:
Gifts by Bequest
A bequest may be in the form of cash, securities, real estate or other property. You should specify that the Snow Leopard Trust is to receive a certain amount or percentage of your estate, particular assets or the remainder of the estate after providing for heirs.
Specific bequests are used to make a gift of a specific dollar amount or specific assets, such as securities, real estate, or personal property.
Residuary bequests are used to give all or a portion of the rest, residue and remainder of your estate after payment of expenses and any specific amounts designated to beneficiaries.
Charitable Remainder Trust
Creation of a qualified charitable trust by an individual will provide income to the beneficiaries designated by the creator of the trust. The income can be paid for the lifetime of the beneficiary or for a specific number of years. At the end of the trust term, the remaining assets pass to the Snow Leopard Trust.
Of course there are many more options and we welcome the opportunity to help you identify tax-wise and beneficial ways for you to support snow leopards while still providing for you and your family. We encourage you to work with a financial or legal advisor for making your final plans.
