31st International Wildlife Film Festival

This Wildlife Film Festival  celebrates wildlife and natural history from a global perspective. The week long event also includes the Tarkio Retreat on May 14th,  where our Executive Director, Brad Rutherford, will be presenting. The Tarkio Retreat brings together leaders from many sectors, including the film and television industries, independent filmmakers and broadcast organizations, foundations and  conservation organizations, universities and other academic institutions, corporations, policy, scientific and natural resource organizations and institutes.

Himalayan Fair

When:

May 17th and 18th

Live Oak Park

The Himalayan Fair supports grassroots organizations in the Himalayas, in countries such as Tibet, Nepal, and Pakistan. There will be food, crafts, travel and trekking booths all related to Himalayan communities. The diverse entertainment this year will include Indian and Tibetan classical music and dance, Afghani and Nepalese folk ensembles, Mongolian and Assamese music and also Kawali and Fusion. This is a colorful and culturally rich event that the whole family will enjoy. Come be a part of the Himalayan community for a weekend!

Green Festivals
are the largest and greenest nationwide festivals dedicated to sustainable living, and this year, they are coming to Seattle! The event will feature over 125 speakers, 350 green exhibitors, an organic valley play zone for kids and all organic food, beer and wine to enjoy! Come spend a few hours collecting free samples of amazing earth-friendly and fair trade products or join us for the entire weekend, as there will certainly be enough to keep you busy. SLT will be there selling our hand made crafts and giving people a chance to learn a little bit more about us. We hope to see you there.

Northwest Folklife Festival

The Northwest Folklife Festival is the annual free climactic celebration of year-round ethnic, folk, and traditional arts activities, unofficially welcoming Seattle into Summer! Artists from the Pacific Northwest along with special guests from throughout the world create an ethnic extravaganza embracing music and dance performances, visual arts and folklore exhibits, hands-on ethnic children's activities, symposia, dance and music workshops, crafts, food, imported goods, demonstrations of traditional arts, and more. The festival is in its 37th year and the Snow Leopard Trust is proud to be an exhibitor once again!

The Woodland Park Education Center can be accessed without going into the Zoo. The Education Center is located next to the Zoo's South Entrance and parking is available in the South Entrance parking lot.

Last year, world-class photographer Steve Winter captured the most remarkable photographs of snow leopards ever seen, some of which will appear in a 24-page snow leopard expose in this June’s National Geographic Magazine. Come hear about his adventures tracking snow leopards in the daunting Himalayas and enjoy a rare presentation of stunning snow leopard photos, many of which are not in the National Geographic magazine. This will be a great event for adults and children and a chance to delve into the life of wild snow leopards—one of the most mysterious and elusive of all the big cats. This event is being hosted by the Snow Leopard Trust, and co-sponsored by Woodland Park Zoo.

Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade

This funky summer celebration returns for it's 37th year! The fair focuses its attention on original art, sustainable living and the
global community. Craft booths, art, music, food, community are what make up the festival that rings in summer with its dramatic Summer Solstice Parade . SLT will be there selling our hand made crafts once again. Come join us down by the canal and bring the whole family... the dog, too!
