2007, they reviewed over 5,000 of the country’s biggest charities
(organizations with budgets of over $500,000), assessing their
organizational efficiency and capacity. Four stars—their highest
rating—is given to less than a quarter of the charities they evaluate,
and only 15% of those that get a 4-star rating keep it for a second
year.
